General Health Screening

Precision Health uses health screening strategies to help individual employees, and employers, preserve health by recognizing the earliest signs or symptoms of disease. Determining the most appropriate screening tests requires experience, up-to-date science and knowledge of the target population. We work with employers and Health insurance providers to offer health screening on-site in the most convenient, professional and safe manner possible. Our screening programmes help detect cardiovascular disease, diabetes, skin cancer, hearing loss, lung disease, eye conditions, and mental health problems. Each screening programme is augmented with educational content delivered by healthcare experts, and rapid access to state-of-the-art treatment.

Report

The final health screening report contains all the data gathered during the process, with personalised advice from our Medical Director about the significance of any abnormal results. More importantly, we give clear, practical advice on how to change your bad habits to healthy ones to reduce your risk of developing future health conditions.

Our standard screening programmes:

Cardiovascular Risk Assessment
This screening programme assesses the risk factors that contribute to cardiovascular disease (heart attack and stroke). The participant's 10-year cardiovascular risk is calculated as a heart age - a simple indicator of the person's relative risk compared to another person of the same age and gender, with no risks.

  • Smoking

  • Blood Pressure

  • Cholesterol

  • Diabetes

  • BMI

  • Family history

Diabetes Risk Assessment
The participant's risk of developing diabetes is assessed. The HBA1c blood test can be done NON-fasting, allowing for a more more convenient screening experience for busy employees.

  • Family history

  • BMI

  • Blood Pressure

  • HBA1c blood test

Comprehensive screen

An all-round work-up of the participant's physical health, with a detailed report on the results and the significance of the findings.

  • Cardiovascular Risk Assessment (smoking, blood pressure, cholesterol)

  • Diabetes Risk Assessment (blood test)

  • Kidney function (urine analysis, blood test)

  • Liver Function (blood test)

  • Blood Health (full blood count, ferritin)

  • Cardiac Rhythm Assessment (pulse rate, electrocardiogram)

Skin Cancer Screening
Melanoma is increasing in frequency in Ireland and is a cancer that can be treated and cured if detected at an early stage. Our screening clinical personnel (nurses and doctors) are trained in the use of a dermoscope, dramatically improving the point-of-care decision accuracy and reducing unnecessary mole removals.

  • UV Exposure history (sunburns, sunbeds)

  • Medical history (previous melanomas, medications)

  • Family history

  • Skin Type Assessment

  • Dermoscopic Examination

  • Referral for surgey, if appropriate

Screening Occupational
screening (occupational)

Occupational Health Screening (Surveillance)

Employers are required to have a programme for preventing and detecting medical conditions that may be triggered or worsened by occupational activities. Employees with increased risk are identified and risk-reduction actions are implemented. follow-up testing programmes monitor the progression of the condition. These screening programmes differ from our other (non-occupational) screening because the outcome of the surveillance is shared with the employer as standard.

Standard Health Surveillance programmes include:

Keystone Vision Screening
A vision test is a requirement for those who work with Visual Display Units (screens) for more than 1 hour per day. The standard screening test takes 10 minutes and can be done in any suitable office location.

  • Near and Far vision

  • Intermediate Vision (VDU test)

  • Colour Perception

  • Contrast Sensitivity (Night vision)

  • Glare Recovery

  • Eye co-ordination

Lung function (Spirometry)
This test is essential for those employees exposed to an inhaled hazard at work eg. dust, flour, asbestos or smoke. Ideally, adequate Protective Equipment should be in place but no protection is 100% effective so regular surveillance is key to detecting early disease.

  • Questionnaire (smoking, occupational history, hazardous exposures, medications)

  • Forced Spirometry

  • BTS categorisation

Ergonomic Workstation Assessment
Our assessors visit the employee's desk either in-person or virtually, via webcam. They examine the setup of the monitor, desk, keyboard, mouse and chair. Our assessor compares the current setup to the Health & Safety Authority's recommendations on the optimum setup of a workstation. A detailed report describes non-compliant issues and provides detailed advice on how to rectify the setup.

  • Questionnaire (occupation, hours, symptoms)

  • Self-assessment photographs

  • Video/In-person assessment

  • Report with comparison to HSA ergonomic standards

Audiometry
Regular hearing tests are essential for those employees with regular exposure to noise levels above 85dB. The test is conducted in a certified testing booth which reduces ambient noise to a minimum, ensuring the test accuracy is as high as possible. Results are compared to the Health and Safety Authority recommended standards and reported to the employer. In cases of severe or rapid hearing loss, the employee is referred to an Ear Nose and Throat specialist for further assessment and advice.

  • Questionnaire (occupation, hazardous noise exposures, hearing protection, hobbies)

  • Otoscopic examination

  • Pure-tone audiometry

  • Report with HSE Categorisation and recommedations

Education

We strongly believe that health screening programmes are enhanced by the addition of an educational offering before and after the screening. Employees are encouraged to engage with the screening programme that suits their own risks. Valuable resources are directed to the right employees at the right age. Those employees that are found to have an increased risk of conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes or cancer can take the first steps necessary to reduce their risk and seek professional help.

Online delivery

The educational programmes can be delivered face-to-face or, where pandemic restrictions dictate, can be delivered as an online webinar.

COVID Supports

Leveraging our experience in Occupational Health and on-site Health Screening, Precision Health are helping organisations from a broad range of sectors to keep their employees and clients safe during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

COVID-19 Employee Medical Risk Assessment

It is imperative that employers do not put at-risk employees into roles with an increased risk of exposure to COVID-19. At the same time, an employee’s medical information must remain confidential. Precision Health’s occupational health personnel provide expert medical advice as an intermediary during this process. This ensures your own employees feel fully assured that all risks have been reviewed by an industry expert with specific COVID-19 experience.

  1. The employee completes a confidential online form, detailing their medical history, including medications, risk factors and current symptoms.

  2. The form is reviewed by our occupational health team. A telephone or video consultation may be facilitated where additional information or clarification is required.

  3. A report is issued via our secure referral portal detailing the employee’s at-risk category – rating from low, medium, high or very high risk. No medical information is transmitted within this report.

  4. The employer’s HR manager receives detailed advice from our experienced occupational health team about safe deployment of low/ medium/high/very-high risk employees.

COVID-19 Return to Work Employee Assessment

Top of the current HR agenda is getting employees back to work in the safest possible way. Precision Health’s clinical team can support HR in the safe return of employees to work during the COVID-19 Pandemic. All employees are required to complete this assessment prior to returning to work.

  1. The employee completes a confidential online form, detailing their COVID-19 symptoms, test results, contacts and travel history.

  2. The form is reviewed by our experienced occupational health team.

  3. A report is issued through our secure referral portal to the HR manager, with recommendations regarding if/when the employee is safe to return to work.

On-site COVID-19 PCR Testing

The sample is taken as a nasal/ throat swab by our trained healthcare professional and using RT-PCR either at point-of-care or via our lab partner. Results are returned to our Medical Director and relayed to the employee via SMS or email, as appropriate. Employees with positive (detected) results are given specific follow-up advice and their results are relayed to the Health Service Executive for contact tracing.

On-site COVID-19 Antigen Testing

A nasal swab is taken by our trained tester and analysed at point-of-care using the accredited Roche SD Biosensor Later Flow Immunoassay kit. The results are available in approximately 15 minutes and relayed directly to the employee and, by prior agreement/consent, with the employer. The employee receives the formal result by SMS and/or email, as appropriate.
